About Me

Sissy Dre was inspired by my father, Robert Felix Rosales, particularly his stylish clothes and big-hearted ways of being. My father was always open to any new hobbies or opportunities and especially enjoyed meeting new people. I take on this creative venture to honor him in my own way. Creating from scratch has opened artistic doors within me that I never knew existed and I hope this blog helps to inspire some crafty part of you too. 000000

Mad Hatter Tea Party ~ Hosted by "The Garden of Beaden"

Alice in Wonderland Tea Party!

On Wednesday evening May 26th, the "Garden of Beaden" held a
"Mad Hatter Tea Party" , hosted by Proprietor Irene Sanchez.

The "Garden of Beaden" host a quarterly Artists bead / creative art piece,
challenge. This is where the shop provides the theme of the challenge and the
local artists provide the artistic creative art pieces, based on the theme.
Irene,  encourages not just bead work to be entered in these challenges, but
any and all types of creative endeavor, that invokes the imagination of the current
challenge, using the chosen theme.

Last quarters challenge was "Alice in Wonderland" and anyone who has seen the movie
featuring  Jonny Depp, knows how creative one could get with this animated movie.

A mandatory requirement for this specific challenge ~ at the wrap
up party ~ all would be required to attend the event with a
favorite tea cup and loveliest hat your own, borrow, or make.

Let's hurry to the the party, before the "Mad Hatter" tells us to leave .....

At the end of the evening ~ we all had a chance to taste about
eleven different types of teas, they were all so delicious!
The Artist further chatted with each other about their projects and how
unique each individual piece turned out, exchanged business cards, blog address, ect.

You know, stuff like ....what's the next new adventure in the life and times of a Artist ~

The next "Garden of Beaden" challenge will be
"the day of the dead"

In the mean time ~ continue to motivate & stimulate
us, as you always due.
And as you
already know ~ "ART SAVES"

Much Love ~

Glitterfest Spring 2010

Yesterday, May 22, 2010 was a big day for all the artists who attending the 2nd annual,
Mixed Media Art Show & Sale ~  "Glitterfest".
Hosted by Diane White & Sheryl Simpson of "Whimzy".

Whimzy is located at
474 El Camino Real
Old Town Tustin
714-573-1025
~You'll want to stop by to see all the latest unique art pieces
Whimzy receives weekly ~ and a few surprise pieces that will
"WOW" the socks off ya ~

On with the show ~

Artists arrival & set up between 7:00 &  9:00 am...
it was like watching a parade for two hours, I could not
focus on one thing to long because, right behind the first
fabulous art pieces coming in ~ the next load of dollies and
hired help, were bringing in loads of other fabulous art.
It was really incredible.

This show is a mixture of recycle, reclaimed, objects,
old & new fibers, fabrics, jews, beads, glass, soldering objects,
paper, clay, ... and so much more then I can not capture.
What I can say is, 90% of the artists and their art for
this show is exquisite and on the cutting edge of a new artist society.

So, here are just a few of the pictures I captured, I sure wanted
to take more. However, I hope you are able to attend the next
"Glitterfest" on October 2, 2010 ~

Well, that was just a very small piece of the talented
artists that were at the show, there were 56 artists total,
with approxiently 500 ~ 600 patrons in attendance.

I love this "corner of my world" that I have fallen into
in so many ways.  All the artists that I have come across have only wanted to share
their craft openly and honestly to encourage and inspire everything hand made.

My hope and wish for you, is that you do get the change to attended
Glitterfest Fall on October 2, 2010 same place &
same time.

Much Love ~

Instructor ~ Robin Dudley-Howes

So..... a couple of weeks ago, my daughter Samantha ~
seemed interested in some sort of ~ jewelry making project.
However, I wanted her to enjoy it so, I asked her
if she wanted to take a class at our local bead shop. And she said "Okay"
I was totally excited but of course I didn't want her
to know that I was. So, we signed up.

My new friend Tara, that I met at a previous
soldering class at Piecemakers the weekend before ~ was also taking the class
with her daughter Ivy.

I shared this with Samantha and she seems further amused.

I wanted to share a snapshot of the day we had together ~ overall
it was really fun ~ we went to lunch together ~ chatted with the instructor and
of course Ivy and Samantha chatted way more about school, friends and other
things ~ then getting the bracelet finished.

In the future ~ when Samantha wants to take a class ~ we'll be
taking a personal and up close class in the garage at home with the dogs.

After instructions from our teacher we were to move forward with the project.
A kit was provide ~ so we didn't need to find objects or a bracelet.

Head is spinning ~ where do I start ~
And Mom ~ why are you already taking pictures?

Stop taking pictures ~ please.....

This is Ivy ~ she's having a wonderful time and she's smiling ~
So, it wasn't that bad as Samantha is making it out to be ~

Here is Tara and Robin Dudley-Howes

Ivy and Samantha (got a smile out of her)

Us again
(Samantha took this picture standing on a chair ~
funny story behind this)

And of course our project ~
Samantha is the top bracelet
and mine is the bottom one.

I wanted to ensure she had a good experience for all of our sakes
so I made sure we got hers finished before the end of class ~ As for mine
I will be working on it later.

As always ~ I love working and learning new techniques from
my friend and instructor Robin Dudley-Howes ~ and always enjoy spending the day with a room
full of talented artist ~ no matter who they are ~

Thank you for taking the class Samantha and spending the
day with your mom.
